Thousands of years ago, prehistoric artists made use of the unsteady light of flickering flames to make paintings of animals on cave walls "move". Inspired by this technique but determined not to accidentally set anything on fire, I went to the local park after dark with a torchlight running on batteries, on my own quest to discover movements.
